Iron – when fatigue can be caused by low iron stores
Dela
During perimenopause, menstruation often becomes heavier or more irregular. This increases the risk of iron deficiency.
Iron is needed to transport oxygen in the blood.
How much do you need?
Women who menstruate are recommended 15 mg of iron per day.
Natural iron sources
🥩 100 g beef – approximately 2.7 mg
🫘 100 g lentils – approximately 3 mg
🌱 100 g soybeans – approximately 6 mg
🎃 30 g pumpkin seeds – approximately 2.5 mg
Feel free to squeeze lemon over vegetarian meals – vitamin C increases iron absorption.
If you suspect iron deficiency, you should check your levels before starting iron supplements.
